Meet our Experts: Cinthia Piedra
Cinthia Piedra was born in Ecuador and immigrated to the United States when she was 3 years old. She fluently speaks Spanish and English. Cinthia studied Social Welfare, Law Societies and Justice, and Human Rights in her undergrad at the University of Washington. She later returned to the University of Washington to receive her Master’s in Social Work with a health and oncology concentration. She currently works as a medical social worker for CHI Franciscan Hospital in the department of Oncology. Cinthia is passionate about inequities in mental health and healthcare as well as the opioid epidemic. With Afghan Health Iniatitave, she hopes to help voice the needs and concerns of immigrants and refugees. She strongly believes that every person in this nation deserves an equal opportunity and having their basic needs met, which will ultimately result in improving lives everywhere.
