Safeway x AHI Job Fair

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Afghan Health Initiative partnered with Albertson Companies Foundation and local Safeway stores to hire newly arrived Afghan refugees on the spot at our office on Thursday December 2nd 2021. 60 newly arrived Afghan community members are now proud owners of their first job in the US! Folks were hired on the spot for jobs that aligned with their work history, and English was not a barrier. We even had a few pharmacy technician positions filled for those who had medical training in Afghanistan! Each of them were also provided free one-year Orca cards and a personally mapped out transportation plan to get them from their homes to their new jobs!
